Carnation Farmers Market

The Carnation Farmer's Market runs from May
through September, next to Hopelink in downtown Carnation.
The market features fresh, locally grown, organic produce,
music and great tamales. It is a project of the Sno-Valley
Tilth. |

Puget Sound Fresh

Puget Sound Fresh is a program begun
by the King County Agriculture Commission to encourage consumers,
wholesalers, retailers and restaurants to seek out and purchase
locally-grown products. They have a lot of great information
about farms, markets, csa's, events and where to purchase
specific crops. |
Carnation
Tree Farm
|
This tree farm,
owned by Roger Thorson, is the destination for
trees at Christmas time. The Thorson family has
been in the area since the late 19th century. In
1901 they built their home and barn which are now on the
national register of historic places. |

Mountains to Sound
Greenway
|
The
Mountains to Sound Greenway stretches over 100
miles along Interstate 90 from the shores of Puget Sound
in Seattle, over Snoqualmie Pass and into Central
Washington. Much of the Greenway is public land and
includes over 700,000 acres held by local, state and
federal agencies in trust for the public good. The
Greenway encompasses protected and working forests,
farms, historic towns, lakes, campgrounds, rivers,
trails and wildlife habitat just outside the Seattle
metropolitan area. |
Washington Trout
|
Washington Trout is a non-profit
conservation-ecology organization dedicated to the preservation
and recovery of Washington’s native fish and the ecosystems
they depend on. Washington Trout seeks to improve
conditions for all of Washington’s wild fish by conducting
important research on wild-fish populations and habitats,
advocating for better land-use, salmon-harvest, and hatchery
management, and developing model habitat-restoration projects. |
Wilderness Awareness School
|
WAS is dedicated to caring for the
earth and our children by fostering understanding and appreciation
of nature, community and self. The curriculum and classes
at WAS are very popular with all ages and teach about our
ecology, animal and bird habits and identification. |
